Copper, Steel or aluminium.
All are used but it dpends on the application and your resourses.
In what context is your question aimed? Are your repairing a domestic or building one?

Hi there,

Most of the evaporators for domestic refrigerators are made with aluminum tubes. The condensers are from copper. The ones I saw anyway.
For joining them the manufacturers use some kind of glue!!!?
The suction line is also copper.

They use a two pack epoxy resin... on domestic refrigeration, to join aluminuim to copper/steel.

We use a grey metal bi-component glue made in Argentina (!) for repairs on Al evaps in domestics., however, I have not seen any remains of glue on the Cu-Al joins to the evap. A mystery.
