Can any one help me as to how to find the size of a Cold Storage Cgamber for Storage of say 10 M.T. of Vegetables or Fruit.

Thank you,

Hi Samarjit Sen,

If you are looking for the physical size of the room why not use the volume of the product stored with allowances for air circulation paths (between product storage containers, walls, roof trusses, etc)?

Obviously you know the product mass to be stored. But if you can determine the mass per unit volume per pallet or box, it should be relatively easy to find the total volume.

From that you could add some estimated airflow clearances (lineal distances) between adjacent objects.

Good airflow is essential to maintaining good product quality. Temperature is only a small portion of the overall issue.

Hi Samarjit Sen,

As USIceman said, you have to know the size of the pallets and how much can be stared in one.
Here we have 130 x 130 cm pallets with 170cm height for storing Kiwi fruit. Each pallet holds 1 Ton of Kiwi.
If the customer places three pallet on top of each other then ....Most of the times I see that the customers don't care about the air flow paths because they want to use the space "efficiently" but this causes major catastrophes.

Hope this helps
Cheers

We are doing the storage and precooling of grapes, promeganates etc. where the products are stored in pallets and we place the pallets in such a way so that there is suffecient air circulation.

The present project is for storage of vegetables. In this case the users here do not store these products in pallets . They may be stored in crates of assorted sizes.

However thank you very much for your suggestions as on the basis of this I shall get an idea as to the approximate dimensions.

Thank you once again.
