Hi Peter,

There could be numerous reasons why the unit doesn't work on mains.

Have you got correct power through the lead? Check that you have power to the transformer. Check the transformer fuse. Check the transformer output through the rectifier.

The dc control line usually links together between truck operation and mains so it would suggest that you have a problem on the incoming mains control side somewhere.

As for the defrost check the defrost termination stat located in the evaporator.

Just a few suggestions let me know once youv'e checked these out.
