Has anyone seen the HARWELL report?

I have seen a section that was published in 1977, "Heat Transfer and Pressure Drop to Finned Surfaces in Crossflow".

It is a massive spread-sheet done by hand on 6 A0 pages.

It is a comprehensive summary of all heat transfer investigations of finned coils over the period 1931 to 1965.

Section 1, 1-17, 1945-1966
Section 2, 18-28, 1931-1966
Section 3, 29-41, 1937-1966
Section 4, 42-57, 1945-1967
Section 5, 58, 74, 1937-1967
Section 6, 75-78, 1961-1965

It gives details of the investigator, the equipment used, the fluids, flows and temperatures and even the concluding result along with the correlating equation.

I would like to know who did that work and what Harwell are doing today?

IS that Harwell the same Atomic Energy Authority, Harwell in the UK where they tested all sorts of nuclear things from bangs to kiloWatts?

Hi Brian,

A reference that I see on a companion document from Harwell is

Heat Transfer and Fluid Flow Services
AERE Harwell, Oxfordshire &
National Engineering Laboratory.

AERE could be Atomic Energy ...

Yep, that's the one :)
