I require help with a series of Sanyo Heat Pumps on R407C
Installed around 5 years ago.

Indoor Units are Ceiling Concealed Type and ducted to areas within space

Each outdoor unit is in the region 14Kw ( Approximate guess)

There are 5 outdoor units linked to 5 Indoor

Only 2 Controllers, I have been told 1 controller linked to 3 systems and 1 controller linked to 2 systems.

In heat mode both controllers display Error Code P4 simultaneously

Will appreciate some feedback

Abe, try this Sanyo site...

http://www.sanyo.com/industrial/HVAC/Concealed_Duct/Heat_Pumps/index.cfm?productID=1284

I don't know if it is the correct model but you can download technical manual, about 11mb and other docs.

All p codes are for protective devices - but i cant remember which one P04 is. But its to go with the outdoor maybe a pressure switch.

can find out on monday for you

Best regards

P4 = High pressure switch is activated.
Check your refrigerant pressure, condenser fan and condenser coil cleaniness.

The outdoor units were slung high up on a wall , and I could not get up to take readings, also was raining.

I started in cooling mode and from a visual point i saw all the fans were operating.

I then switched to Heat mode and thats when both controllers displayed P4

Using two controllers makes it more difficult which outdoor unit is at fault. I think the installer has daisy chained.

3 Outdoors on one controller, two on the other, however both controllers displayed P4 at same time.

From past experience ive always found oceanair very good in helping me out on sanyo splits - didnt realise just how deep you can go via the controllers into the operation of these units. I had something similar 6 months back which was
eventually traced to a dodgy discharge sensor which would initially run the fans at 100% then over the space of 4-5 minutes would drop them down to 0% Helpful!

Hi Abe,

Following info from Sanyo Tech man

Symptom: LCD on the remote controller displays “CHECK P04”. (High-pressure
switch activation warning)

If the system operates again:
High-pressure switch activation

(Both cooling and heating)
• Electronic refrigerant control valve
defect
• Refrigerant over-charged
(Cooling)
• Outdoor unit, heat exchanger dirty,
clogged
• Outdoor unit air short
• Outdoor fan stopped
(Heating)
• Outdoor unit air short
• Indoor unit, heat exchanger dirty,
clogged
• Large pipe side service valve
closed
• Indoor fan stop
• Air filter clogged

If the system does not operate again:
Are there connection defects in the wiring?
NO = HP switch defect, YES= Repair wiring!
