I am just about to start my own company and have only really worked with R407c. Does any one have info on R410, i need to know what sort of running pressures and what pressure is used to test the system with

Do you have a safe handling certificate and if so your handbook should give you the legal required test pressures?

Other than that I would suggest downloading some material from websites such as Daikin or Mitsubishi to gather more information.

There is a pressure testing procedure laid down in a European Standard, EN 378. - Refrigeration Safety.

It's in 4 parts and for pressure testing specifically, you need to read Part 2, though I recommend being familiar with it all.

I test a R410a system to 300psi/20bar for 24 hours with OFN

300psig is not even sufficient for the HP control setting on an R22 system :eek:

Daikin, and others, recommend that R410a systems are pressure tested to 40Barg (600psig)

Sorry i got confused about the R410a pressures:-

Correct figures are

STRENGTH TEST - - 43 BAR for 15 seconds
LEAKAGE TEST - - 33 BAR for 24 hours

If you refer to Toshiba, as an example, you will find their requirements a useful schedule to follow:-

psi bar Period
50 3.45 5 mins
200 13.79 5 mins
450 31.00 5 mins
600 41.36 1 hour
500 34.47 24 hours

Do be aware that some manufacturers are not so confident of their isolation valves and require you to withdraw the refrigerant charge before strength/pressure testing. Read the instructions first.
