Anyone have the manual or knows how to re-programme the non volatile eeprom after replace a new PCB on above models of fan coil?
I have this error code 'L09' indicated on the wired remote controller and it says the capacity code of indoor unit not set after i replaced a new PCB, please help.

I think that you can set the unit size using the controller but not 100% certain.

Try the Carrier website
http://www.uk.carrier.com/sitemap.htm
and download a technical manual.

I couldn't find your model but think that the controls are similar across tye range so download a similar models details.

Hi Cofreth,

This is the info I have for the SANYO SPW series sold in UK.
So I don't know how applicable it is to your Sanyo system as I dont recognise the model number.

I assume that as it has a 'K' it is a High Wall unit...which means that Code#10 should be 0008

The Indoor unit capacity is held in Code#11 and reflects the KW capacity:
0001 = 2.2
0002 = 2.5
0003 = 2.8 (93 size)
0004 = 3.2
0005 = 3.6 (123 size)
0006 = 4.0
0007 = 4.5
0008 = 5.0 (K183)
0009 = 5.6
0010 = 6.3
0011 = 7.1 (F253)
0012 = 7.3
0013 = 9.0
0014 = 10.0
0015 = 10.6 (363 size)
0016 = 12.5
0017 = 14.0 (483 size)

I have found that your unit is 24,000 Btu/h which would be around a 7 kW which would point to a code value of 0011

To get into setting mode: (N.B: 'X' refers to button with X on it)

Press & Hold: 'Spanner' + 'SET' + 'CL' (all together)

Select the code# using 'Temp Up' or 'Temp Down'

Alter Value using 'Time Up' or 'Time Down'

Confirm setting using 'SET'

Press and Hold: 'Spanner' to exit

gives the model code breakdown.
K = wall mount
H = Heat pump
24 = Btu/h capacity
4 = Model series
2 = 208-230v

I will follow and programme it on Monday here.
Yes, it's a wall mounted FCU by Toyo Carrier I guess manufactured by Sanyo.
So to confirm again, isn't it for code#10 should set to '0008' and code#11 to '0011'?

Some ppl here call this the Carrier VRV system, it's similar to Sanyo Eco multi system.

Yes...Code#10 should be set to '0008' (hi wall)
and Code#11 should be set to '0011' (for 7kW)

Hopefully these will work for you.
The FCUs are common across the SPW and ECOi multi system. Its interesting that Carrier over there are using Sanyo. Here in UK, Carrier and Toshiba are together.

Hi Electrocoolman,

Thank you for your advice,it just take me few minutes to key in the code #10 & #11 data, the system is back to normal.

I have encounter another problem today for another unit of this model, upon arrival 'L09' was displayed at remote controller.As usual re-enter data on code #10 & #11, restart system and error code 'F29' display on remote controller meaning eeprom(ICB of PCB) failure. Isn't it I got to replace the entire PCB board for this fan coil unit?
Another system I encounter is error code 'P3' meaning incorrect discharge gas temperature of PC compressor.I notice whenever the compressor stops,hot gas from discharge pipe is back pressure back to suction line at compressor,within few seconds, the suction connection at compressor are so hot,is it normal?I suspect compressor internal mechanical failed.But then I tried a pumpdown by shutting the liquid line service valve, suction can pull to a vacuum.Notice hot gas by-pass (SAVE) solenoid valve is energised most of the time too, wondering the compressor had a problem or outdoor PCB or thermistor.

'F29' does indeed mean EEPROM error on Indoor unit. Have you gone through and checked all the code# (make a note of values) to see if they make sense.

I'm wondering if you can reseat / replace just the EEPROM? (Rather than a complete new PCB).

Hi Cofreth,

P03....is Outdoor protection...Discharge Temperature trouble.
Abnormal Discharge Temperature (Discharge detected at or above specified value)...Unit stops when temp exceeds 111deg C.
Suggests checking:
1). Refrigerant cycle (gas leak)
2). Electronic control valve trouble
3). Check Tubing sensor (TD)


"Discharge temperature release control
(1) This control lowers the operating frequency of the
compressor when electronic control valve control
is unable to maintain the appropriate operating
conditions because the discharge temperature
fails to decline or because there is a sudden
increase in the discharge temperature.
(2) If the discharge temperature exceeds 111°C, the
compressor is stopped and then restarted. (Error
count = 1)
(3) The error count is cleared when operation has
continued for 10 minutes after the compressor
was restarted.
(4) If (2) repeats 4 times without the error count being
cleared (error count = 4), alarm “P03” occurs."

Do you have the code # table? I'm still looking for it.
what is code#1 represents or code#2 and so on..
The manufacturer here doesn't sell you just the eeprom,they sell together with the card, cost around S$600.00

Is there a code on the EEPROM....its bound to be a standard IC....I dont have a system to hand to have a look, but if you can post the code i'll see if it makes sense.

As for indoor unit codes:
'01' = Filter timer (hrs) 0=0, 1=150, 2=2500, 3=3500, 4=10000, 5=no timer [normal depends on model type]
'02' = Filter contamination 0=light, 1=heavy (halves above settings) [normally =0]
'03' = Central address (system controller) 1 to 64 numbered when system controller is used [normally 99 (no setting)]
'04' = Priority setting for remote controller 0=normal 1=priority (this remote has priority of mode in the ref circuit)
'05' = Indoor fan speed in heat mode at Thermo on & off [normally K units = 2, All other = 0]
'06' = Heat mode return air temp shift deg C 0=0,1=1...6=6 higher then set temp [model K=2, F,FM=0 X,S,AS,T,U,D,SL=4]
'0F' = Cooling / Heatpump 0=Heatpump, 1=cool only
'10' = Model type.....see previous
'11' = Indoor unit capacity......see previous
'12' = RC address 1 to 30 =Ref circuit number 99=no setting [factory 99]
'13' = Indoor unit address no 1 to 64 [factory 99]

'1E' = Auto mode shift temp 0000=no shift, 0001=1degC, .....0004=4 degC Setting affects dead band [factory 4]
'1F' = Cooling mode max temp setting -15 to 60 deg C [factory 30]
'20' = Cooling mode min temp setting -15 to 60 deg C [factory 18]
'21' = Heating mode max temp setting [factory 26]
'22' = Heating mode min temp setting [factory 16]
'23' = Dry mode max temp setting [factory 30]
'24' = Dry mode min temp setting [factory 18]
'25' = Auto mode max temp setting [factory 27]

When replacing the indoor board on a Sanyo KH2442 there is an E-prom chip which must be swapped from the old board to the new board. If the chip is gone you can program the chip by using a Sanyo RCS-TM80BG or RCS-SH80UG wired remote controller. Basically there are (2) main settings one is unit type Code 10 to data setting 0008 and the other is unit capacity Code 11 set to 0012.
