Hi All,
Just got home from the show, whats everyones opinion this year. There seemed to be more stands for tools and equipment than i remember from 05 so was better from an engineers standpoint. Some stands good, some not so. What do you guys and gals think. Any comments - good or bad

its just a massive complex of open carparks with a bus service to the door if needed, make sure you jot down where you left it or put a flashing light on top,may see you guys there tomorrow.
If you can find time to go you're not busy enough! lol
Seemed a little quieter than years gone by.

When I went last time I left the lights on the car on, came back to a flat battery... not a happy chappy at the time. Although looking back I can see the funny side.... oh wait... no actually I can't, I am still pi$$ed off. You have just opened up old wounds.....lol
And do you think the guy I went with will let me forget it??? does he eck.
Chillin:) :)

Where were all the free mugs, thats what i want to know:p
Got a hook shaped oxy nozzle from CWB with three outlets (looks like the hanger hook on your gauges) to heat all arount the pipe. They also do a tuning fork shaped one with eight outlets for changing reversing valves (heat all three pipes at once)
Free searle mints gave me a headache (alergic to mints, still havn't learnt:rolleyes: ) and two of my free pens don't work:mad:
Cheers Jon

There certainly wasnt much given away this year compaired to others, i think this is the way all shows are now though. I was glad there were more stands for the engineers, previous shows have all been about companies pushing products to project engineers, managers and directors and there wasnt much for engineers to look at.
I must admit i was dissapointed by some of the stands, a lot of them instead of having the real thing sitting there to look at you just had displays and tv screen, Daikin and LG spring to mind. Some stands were very good, Hubbard/Scotsman i thought had a very good display. Nice Lambo in the H&V show, not sure what heating system you can fit in it though
Well thats over for another two years
Raymond
To be honest i don't think the show will survive another 4 years, the a/c guys will be exibiting in the H/V side the same as Daikin.
When you look at the cost of some stands they would be enough to keep 2 sales people going for a whole year and seeing more business owners. Most people know each other and it was just a bit of a get together.
Some of the big names in refrigeration have discovered send your reps their to walk around and still get the business at no cost.
No new products or anything of any intrest that you can't find on a company web site.
Its nice to know that new technologies are not prone to failure even at a show, The working CO2 fridge had actually burn't out and failed during the first day.
:)
Refrigeration kit on show was not even built correctly, in that some of the pack systems were mounting compressors on the usual rubber feet but not even fitting vibration eliminators in the discharge lines,if their going to show equipment off for god sake build it properly.
All i have to show for 2 days out is sweaty feet.
Not a good visit for me but i did have a good chat with POOH.

I went on Wednesday, thought it was quite good, seemed more enthusiasm by the trade stands to gain your business, made some new contacts, got offered some really good discounts such as 43.5% off Fujitsu, seizes the opportunity to tell each LG supplier what I thought of their equipment and I would never buy one again as long as I had breath in my body.
The wolseley centre were very friendly and generous with the freebies as well as Oceanair, they gave me a memory stick for my USB port, quite useful.
Car parking once again was absolutely scandalous, at least that highway robber bloke Turpin wore a mask so you expected to be robbed.
Oh and the standard of dolly birds on the stands this year was exceptionally high, there was one particular lady on the Halls ACSON stand who really caught my eye!:D

Hi:)
very good show for us;) we had a shopping list that we filled and surpassed.
Only down side was I only had a quick word with Pooh in passing:o
Should have spent more time looking for you guys:D
Can't tell you all what we went to buy just yet, but we are working on something big;) on the energy side.
Good show I thought, small compared with IKK but easier to communicate:)
Alo took a look at the heating show, checked the prices of solar heating, what a rip off for a sheet of insulation and some copper under a sheet of glass.
Also sourced some piping for my new houses underfloor heating:)
Kind Regards Andy:)

I forgot to mention, I went to the click software stand where I chatted with the director, what a really nice helpful bloke, he used to be a refrigeration engineer so understands what we need, software that is quick and simple to use and not as complex as Mistral because lets face it, as a working engineer we can not afford to spend a lot of time on over complex software on projects that wont come off.
Incidentally I have requested in the next updated AC or COOL cal that cellar cooling and pipe selection is added, the guy said that he would certainly look into it............that is what we need, people who actually listen to what we want, 10/10 for click.

Andy,
I hope you alerted the company to RE and the probability of him placing an advertisement on this site.

Yeah, I chatted to the guy at the Clik stand too, I had a few issues with how he described stuff when selecting construction of the building, he took the time to show me how AC Calc worked, I left that stand having learned a lot.
Was also quite interested in the loft mounted units from Russia. Of monoblock construction but could be ducted outside so that there is no outside unit. Could be quite noisy but at the right price could usefull for the budget consious customer. The kit did seem to be meat pie engineering so not overly complicated.

Well Guys,
So much for RAC.
Got laid off for security reason.
Left for home bound that very moment even with documents verfying my presence.
Well the airfare was not a big deal but the hospitality.

That's a shame
Well until Abdul elaborates on his experience we will all be wondering what happened, was it Immigration who would not let you enter the country?
Kindly let us know

Well Abe,
You're right.No big deal.Use to it.
No point in clarifying and elaborating because it will make matter worse.
I have all the proper document.
By the way I'm home safe eventhough I miss the RAC show and wasted my doe on the airfare.
I believe every country have their right to be security strict but some get carried away.
I was told to proceed after being held for few hours.
Choose to returned home because I was put and p**s off about the whole incident. Lets not discuss about the whole ordeal.
Another thing guys, I bought some british cigars at the airport duty free shop and they are real good. The dames all are pretty lovely and nice looking too. Pity can't stay long.
I heard they are gonna put up a hvac seminar 2007 show in S'pore. Maybe I can meet up with some of you guys there. Cheerio mate.
Okay guys thanks a lot for the concern.
Abdul Azman
Sorry to hear of your predicament. Considering that they said after a few hours youre free to " enter" means they checked you out and you were in the clear.
I respect your wish that you dont wish to discuss this, but if it helps anyone in the future, might be prudent if you obtain an " entry clearance certificate" from your British Embassy before you travel to avoid any such delays upon landing.
Please send details of the Singapore event Abdul. I might be heading out Malaysia way this summer, so may be an opportunity to visit the show.

OK so on the whole most people got what they wanted/expected out of the show, (I had a days holiday :D ) moving on slightly what in an ideal world WOULD you like to see at 09. Now the usual answer is more stuff for the engineer but the problem with that is that there are only a limited number of companies making tools and equipment (ITE/Advance etc) so if there were more engineer related stands they would all be showing more or less the same equipment.
So once again i ask, what would you like to see to make the show better

How about a little more interest from the folk on the big stands. I always deliberately dress down for shows and the only folk who make an effort to talk to me are people that already deal with. Ok I could make more of an effort to talk to them but it does seem to be that the show is just a social gathering where cheap suits meet and chat to cheap suits. The guys on the smaller stands were great and very helpfull though I feel that the guy on the Refco stand will remember what I said about their torque wrench for a while :D
Andy
nice to meet you hopefully we will bump into each other again sometime.
Karl
The guy on the Refco stand does not want to be at the next show I visit as I will be having some serious words as he would not even acknowledge one of my tutors who wanted some information to send back to his contacts in Botswana I am sorry to say I thought people like that did not exist in todays world.

no doubt you will especially if you have a R744 Training rig:D
Nice to meet you, pity I hadn't taken an extra day to meet more people :( I was over with a number of directors with in the different branches working on some product developement.
Kind Regards Andy:)

Hi Ian
I eventually found your stand tucked away in the middle but I left it too late, just before we had to leave (the NCN bus).
When I reached your stand it was about 2.40 and we had to leave at 3.00. You had just left the stand and only your colleague was there. Saw you leaving though :)
maybe next time.

I was quite interestd in how the radial (i think) piston C02 compressor on the Bock stand worked but it seemed the three representative where blind to people not in suits:confused: Maybe they've been employed on a disability scheme:rolleyes: . So next time i'm taking some hand tools so i can take things to bits to see for myself. That should get there attention :D
I'd like to see more things working as opposed to static displays. Probhably not practical if i'm taking them all to bits LOL.
Cheers Jon

Bock had a working inverter unit on the stand that I had a good play with:D
I couldn't get rid off the Guntner, we use Bitzer Octagon compressors on all our packs.:D

I have a meeting with the bock guys on Wednesday here. I'm curious about prices.
I have a meeting with the bock guys on Wednesday here. I'm curious about prices.
They spun me a good sales pitch, I checked their effeciency against the Bitzer Octagon, the Octagon is quite a bit more effecient:eek:
Only plus point I can see is the inverter mounted on the compressor, that only requires mains electric and a 10volt signal:)
Better to use a Bitzer Octagon with a remote panel mount inverter;)
Now what I need is the Bitzer with the inverter mounted on it like the condensing unit they make:D
Kind Regards Andy:)
