Can anyone out there help me with the following problem. I have to replace 2 expansion valves but the orifaces is gone. On the old valves I can only make out the following:43vga97113101. How do I determine the oriface size for the new valves. There is also no markings on the evaporator core to go by.

Just guess the size, thats the common way to do it.

Stick in a No.2 or whatever then test it to see if you need to go up or down in size.

Rough but it gets the job done, unless you want to sit there with a calculator and pencil all day....lol

You can select the EXP depeding on the connection size and cooling capacity of evaporator, the connection size is standard, so it's easy to get.

You must be aware of the evaporator capacity and the evaporative temperature. Based on these you can do a bit of guess work and fit in an orifice. From the details mentioned it apprears that the expansion valves are of Sporlan make. If so you may check up from their Catalog 10-10.

why not some one put some details about how the orifice size is determined?
