Hello,

I'm new to the site and I'm currently working on a system to freeze champagne bottle necks at a winery. We have a propylene glycol system which cools our tanks. I was going to use this system and have done the heat transfer calculations. Unfortunately, we need to get the temperature of the R-22 in the system at the evaporator to a constant -25 degrees F to freeze the necks properly.

Our compressor is a Maneurop reciprocating type MT64 (R-22) and it's tech sheet minimum evaporator temperature is rated at -10 degrees F. I'm assuming that the compression ratio will be too high and the temperature difference from condenser to evaporator too great to reach -25 degrees F. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

With Maneurop MT 64 ( R 22 ) you will not be able to attain an Evaporating Temperature lower than -25 Deg. C. For your requirement either you install a LTZ series compressor with R 404 A or install a semi hermetic compressor of Dorin or Copeland make with R 22.
