Hi ! Folks !

Any ideas how to get through this RE exam...here in SK,CA ...this exam can freeze your brain for good - 4 hours and 150 questions...use to be 60%...now they say we are not 'slow' anymore so since Jan 1'07 only 65% will pass...

May be you still remember some moments on RE that absolutely must to know ....as in theory so in practical tricks of RE exam.

Please help

Any ideas how to get through this RE exam

Yes, STUDY and READ the questions very carefully. There are no short cuts, tips, or tricks. All of the questions can be answered with sufficient time left over for review, before you turn in your answer key.

The only tip I can give you is the above, and one more... Read through the questions and answer those that you know, first. Then spend the time to go back and answer the others.

By the way, welcome the RE forums.;)

Im not sure how the RE exam is worded but this is how I know Examiners mark according to the " marking scheme"

First, 150 questions, 4 hours?
Assuming each question carries the same weight.....thats 4 hours * 60 mins = 240 mins

150 questions divided by 240 mins = 1.6 mins per question
I think it very unlikely that each question will carry out the same number of marks, but this gives you an idea how much time to spend on each question.

When your time is up............Move on..........even if you havent finished answering the question.

Next tip

Answer the question.

If it says.........Explain...............Explain.
If it says Discuss............Discuss

This is the most common area where people fall down.

Would be good if you posted some questions from past papers to give us an idea

A good old favorite from C&G exams on the best method to defrost a chicken.

Multi choice

1, Cover with tea towel and leave for 48 hours

2, Place chicken in bowl of hot water for 12 hours

3, Place chicken in fridge until defrosted.

4, Cook direct from frozen

I actually know 1 guy who got this wrong
Kind regards

The test questions (and answers) are supposed to be kept private and not circulated. This also applies to those who take an exam for a Professional Engineers license.

I'm assuming the test Dnipro is taking is for the CIRO test from RETA. The test is comprehensive in the fact you have to know the subject matter. If he does not understand the material, the test can be very difficult.

And I'm surprised as it seems the passing score of 60 or 65% is too high to achieve?

What would be the point of taking an exam if the passing score was lower. Sure you might past the test, but what would you know? Not much... And that does no one any good.

Hi frank

I was young and it was me who got it wrong:D , i'd watched my mother defrost chickens and turkeys this way for years, a classic case of selective learning.
