I heard there was a basic electrical course required for anyone working on it.
maybe i could cram the course in somewere cause we are landing in perth to start and will be making our way round to cairns, as we not sure on were we are gonna settle yet.
appreciate any help on this.

You would be guessing right. Lots of fairly average stuff too, but that happens everywhere.:)

Well i am not sure weather your ticket will be recognized
here , but for starters this is what you will need.

Refrigerant Handling Licence: (for people only trained in the safe use of gases , and they do not hand out experienced persons licences anymore so you will have to get the ticket approved.)

www.arctick.org/index.php

Restricted Electrical Licence: (for work up to 1000v ac or 1500v dc , but no fixed wiring.)

http://www.dir.qld.gov.au/electricalsafety/publications/guide/resclicence/index.htm

Certificate II in Split System Air Conditioning: (if the ticket wont be recognized
, or if you have only done refrigeration , not both.)

http://www.logan.tafe.qld.gov.au/resources/pdf/40488sa.pdf

Blue Card: (if working on construction sites.)

http://www.drandall.com.au/construction-induction.php

Hope this helps you a little bit , but there is tons more if you are going to work for yourself.

Good luck.
