Hi dear sirs
One of my friends need to offer a quote for a 10,000m2 hotel using sea water heat pump. He ask me but I've no idea for it. I've no experience. I'm not sure if there's any member knows something about this and can give me a hand:). many thanks

regards
LC

If you already have a thermodynamic evaluation of heat loads, let me know. We are already building water-sea water heat pumps for many countries.

Thank you. I've not yet got the heat load calculation but the most concerned issue the ocean engineering field. Sea water circulation system is a very special task. I'm not sure if you can take the whole work not only the heat pump building.

Merry Xmas!

Hi US Iceman,

Thanks for the Links, especially REA, another forum worth visiting. Hope to enjoy the learning that goes with it.

The sea water heat pump is an interesting idea. My assumption based on the article would be; they intend to pump seawater and use it for a heat source, add some energy via a compressor and dump the heat into a heating loop.

The downside to this I can see is the tremendous pumping power required both on the seawater and closed heating loops.

The pumps would really be required on the closed loop side to distribute the hot water, but I wonder if they could use a siphon effect to circulate the seawater for the evaporators.

That's how the Romans moved water uphill in their aqueducts a thousand years ago.

Eliminating the pumping power on at least one side of the system would have a big impact on total COP for the system I would think.

I hope LC can find some information on this project and keep us updated on additional information and progress.
