Are you talking about a heat pump.
Air and ground sourced heat pumps are now very common.

Presume that we are looking at the Daikin Altherma H. Pump system and the Mitsubishi Electric PQFY system.

There's an article on both in the Dec 2006 ACR News magazine.

Don't know of a PQFY, Misti have a PQRY or PQHY in their database.

Have a look at the Databook for details of how it is supposed to work.

both daikin and mtisi do a system now, both aimed at the underfloor market for domestic use. underfloor heating only reqiures a temp of 45 degrees so they run quite well, they are air to water through a plate heat exchanger.
