I have following input data.
Quantitiy of fungus and dirt:18000kg
space:640m3
160m2 x 4m high
Proces for whole jear:
1 step:
T indoor=22 to 24C
RH 80 to 90%
2 step:
T indoor=16 to 17C
RH 80 to 90%
4 circles at one year.
How will you design this machine.
I have look at my handbook but if i design by the book it will be to expensive.
2 evaporators/conensers 2 x 30kW
and 2 humidifiers with spray in each duct
sensing bulb at intake duct.

Any experience with this caind of things*?

hi Renato,

I would look at using coils with very low TD, this will stop absorbtion of so much moisture from the room, may reduce the size of the humidifiers required. It may take a little longer to pull down though. Designs like this will not be cheap if the customer wants it to work properly and efficiently.

Hi Renato,

First, i want to ask few questions to understand your needs.

(1) Did i understand you correctly?
1.1. CA space: 160 sq M area for 18.0 MTons fungus (mushroom) growing
1.2 condition 1: 22C-24C, 80%-90%RH
1.2 condition 2: 16C-17C, 80%-90%RH

(2) What kind of enclosure do you have?
2.1 Floor construction?
2.2 Walls & Ceiling?

(3) What are your ambient conditions?
3.1 Day
3.2 Night

Building is of concrete with wery poor isolation.
Steal roof.
Steal dors 9m2.
Glas without sheading 50m2.

Outdor temp summer:
+32C 30-60RH
Outdor temp winter:
-3C 50-80RH
Outdor temp spring:
+16 to +24C RH 50-80RH

Hi Renato,

I have done quite a couple of CA cold rooms for banana, pineapple, vegetables & vegetable growing. Also, i have helped set up a mushroom growing facility.

I am in a tropical country so i need only to address one ambient condition. As i see your requirement: temperature, humidity and the 3 ambient conditions, my suggestions/comments are as follows:

1) You need to have a some sort of room and door (gasketed) where the humidity/moisture can be contained inside the room. A vapor barrier is needed to do that. Maybe you can have it applied inside the concrete room.

Renato:
2 evaporators/conensers 2 x 30kW
and 2 humidifiers with spray in each duct

2) Your cooling load will be high because you have no walls, ceiling & floor insulation.

3) You may not need a duct. The water/air pipes & nozzles could be installed inside the room to deliver the moisture. Solenoid valves for water/air lines could be controlled by a humidistat.

4) Unit coolers should be applicable for high humidity rooms with 6FPI or 8FPI fin spacing evaporator coil. Since you have only a 2 degree C band, the temperature control should be digital.

Hope the above helps in your design.

Winfredy :)
