Looking for some knowledge on the following points. Consulted many books but no clear explainantion.

1. How to calculate optimum refrigerant volume requirement for flooded chiller ?

2. When chiller is out of operation or is stopped, do all freon from condenser get accumulated in evaporator and stays there. Any freon gets locked up in condenser ?

3. Is there any allowable limit of oil freon mixing in evaporator ?

The optimal charge depends on the length and size of the liquid lines.

If no solenoidvalves are placed the freon will go to the coldest part of the system, thus the evaperator!

Nirmalya,

If you do some seraching in the RE site there were several threads discussing the refrigerant charge calculations for flooded chillers.
