Hi Peter,

As usual I am confused...

You might have R-407C, or you might have R-507, but I've never heard of R-507c.

BTW the 500 series (like R-502, R-500 etc) shows that there is only one version of this rec.ipe because the mixture has no "glide" whereas the "C" in the 400 series shows that this is one of several recipes. For the components of 407 there are five variants on the market, with R-407C being the most common

So back to the question - if it is R-507 then you could try R-404A instead, but best to decant as much old refrigerant as possible (no need to change oil). The operating pressures are slightly different, capacities much the same, and there will be about 0.5K glide.

Hope this helps

Cheers

Hi Andy P.

In ice making machines, I replace R404 with R 507.

Less problems, works better.

Hi, I also like R507 in preference to R404a. R507 is a 50/50 Azeotrope (akin to R502) and can be charged in gas phase. Also if there is a partial system leak the composition of the gas is unaffected (unlike R404a).
I also believe it has slightly better performance than R404a.

Its also known as ALLIED SIGNAL AZ50. I get it from national refrigerants via Kooltech.

Hope this helps......Adrian
