If we used nitrous oxide as a refrigerant, would the customers get happier the worse the leak was?:D
It'd make the van go quicker for a start!

Was there a refrigerant that made soots (like accetylene when burnt) when released? My Dad has a story of filling a bakers shop with soots after a pipe broke on something he was working on:eek: ( early 1970's)

I don't know of a refrigerant in that time frame that did that, but do know of one similar story.

Goes back to 1930 or so when Methyl Chloride was being used. Apparently when you use a halide torch for leak detection in a closed case there is a tendency for things to explode and cover everything with a white powder.:o

That's the only strange example I have heard of.
