I require a Free download of Selection Software for assessing the refrigeration loads for Ice Cream Hardening Rooms. The Temperature inside the Hardening Room is to be maintained at -40 deg. C. and the incoming temperature of Ice Cream from the Freezers are at -3 to -4 Deg. C. Could some one help me.

we are ice cream showcase manufacturer. temperature main from -18 deg to -22 deg. is O.K.

Dear Oliver,

You are storing Ice Cream for which a temperature of -18 to -22 Deg. C. What I am talking about is process of ice cream after it is manufactured when the ice cream is hardened . It has to be -40 Deg C for attaining small crystalls and a smooth texture.

You can probably perform the load calculations by the time it takes to find free software. Besides, I would not trust the software as there are too many variables to trust to a "free" program.

Fat content, overrun, sugar and fruit content, etc.

this softwre offers a lot but not everything ;) you must play with, it is free but it is professional too. At least you can get some idea....;)


but...to make a hardening tunnel for ice cream is not easy task

Hi Josip,

Thank you very much for your help and advice. I have downloaded the software from Luve website and it is just what I wanted. No I am not interested in manufacturing Hardening Tunnel. We take up turn key projects mostly for low temperature applications. One of our customer needs a Hardening Chamber with a temperature of -40 Deg. C and I just could not get one which could get me the values at this temperature. Thank you again.

I am interested in load calculation for Hardening Tunnel and Chill room.Can anyone assist by forwarding examples of load calculation on various cold room?

For Ice Cream Hardening the required temperature is -40 Deg. C, whereas for Ice Cream Storage the required temperature of the room should be between - 25 to -30 Deg. C. Hardening should be done at within a period of 1 hours to get a smooth texture. But at times it is also carried out for about 6 to 8 hours if the quantity of Ice Cream is large.

You may refer to Ashrae Handbook of Refrigeration wherein the load calculation and the design details are provided. There is no specific software for this application. However you may download the software from www.russellcoil.com (http://www.russellcoil.com) wherein you can attain the room temperature down to - 40 Deg. C and also the product selection of ice cream. You may get the load calculated from this software.
