I have been informed that one seller on eB*y is selling split air units that run on R22. I cant say who they are but they sell more units than anyone else, and do not specify a refrigerant in their auction?

If you ask the seller what gas the units use, you get the reply.

"i am not sure i'm afraid?"

I wondered what members thoughts on this were?

If there's an apparent breach of the law, alert the Trading Standards Office.

My thinking is heat pumps are exempt for a while yet, I refurbished a machine this year and because it was an heat pump dehumidifier I was told that it was ok to stick to R22.

The original question was about new kit.

Use of R22 for service has a differennt phase-out schedule.

There's a similar question I replied to here:

.In theory mine was new kit as every item of the system had been replaced, and I mean everything, but heat pump dehumidifiers according to my wholesaler are exempt for the time been, not sure about heat pump air con.

It is when you see how many he is selling.

Not sure where 'Trading Standards' would come into this?

In the UK the Tading standards Office police these measures.

You have to make an official complaint, they are then obliged to follow it up.

Ring them up and talk it through, but don't expect them to grasp the problem straight away.... they cover all transactions of everything, but they are quick on the up-take.

My experiece with Trading standars is that they only deal with complaints about traders in their area?

Theres gonna be some dissapointed buyers of those units?

They are bound to take any complaint seriously, but bear with them, they are NOT A/C engineers.
