Wanted to get your opinion on a True GDM-48. The unit is an older R-12 and the compressor just went out. The box is still in good shape and considering it is 2100 to replace it with a new one, was thinking of putting a new compressor in it. Looks like the compress will cost me about 300 to 350 plus a case of beer to get it installed. It calls for 21 oz of R-12 and was tinking that now would be the time to change it over to a different refrigerant. If I change from r-12, what should I go to? 134?... Will the cap tube need replaced? What compressor would you recommend?
