I am using one of the above air conditioning units, and have had the fault code E4 come up on the display. Does anyone know what this means?

I am a Technician in the Royal Air Force, and if I can find out what the fault code means then I can rectify this fault. I have searched the company website and am unable to find the required information, and tbh I also found this site with google so I thought I would give you guys a shout first,

Many Thanks

Simon

Lol! Okay, it kind of states the obvious i guess! It definitly malfunctions. It runs for about an hour, then just stops and the E4 appears.

Without the service manual it’s anybody’s guess what that means.
Chinese kit is cheap at the moment and flooding the market in the UK. My understanding is that most of it is old product dumped here by the container load.
As far as support and technical info is concerned, you’re on your own.

I suspect that if it runs (OK?) for a while then throws up the fault it may be associated with poor refrigerant charge. (Just a guess – but worth eliminating before you start tearing it apart).

Why not reclaim the lot, evacuate and test for leaks, then weigh in the quantity it (should) give you on the OD unit name plate, plus (if yuo can't find out the correct addition) 30 gm / m over 5 metres for ¼ inch liquid or about 50 gm / m for 3 /8. It's about right for those pipe sizes.

In the meantime, you could contact this bunch, but don’t expect much…..

Good luck.

i would say it was a low pressure fault..
