View Full Version : Choosing Evaporator

I have a Copeland Condensing Unit
M9-LHA-50X-EWL
It has capacity 6.00 Kw at -30C

I wish to match it to an evaporator coil

Do I select an evaporator that has similar capacity?
ie: Something like a Friga Bohn
LUC 835C which is rated at 8.3Kw at -25c
or
LUC 645 which is rated at 5.1Kw at -25c

Which one would you select, the larger or smaller one? Bearing in mind I need to keep the cost down

Thank you

I dont have a catalogue in front of me but one Friga Bohn to avoid for low temperature use is the one that has a cowl that the fan sits in as water droplets form, freeze and jam the fan, doesn't matter what you try, you are never able to cure it.

What will the copeland do at -25c ?

What is the actual room temperature that you are looking for?

Andy

The Copeland will do 3.6 Kw at evap -40C, 4.75Kw at evap -35 and 6.00 kw at evap -30C, and 7.45 Kw at -25C

I am looking for a room temp of around -18C

Thanks

Im just trying to think of a Frigha I installed a couple of years back. Ive now replaced 4 fans already, the curved supports all snap off, Ill try take picture.

To replace they charge around 100 quid each.....these are just small 25 watt Mavib type fan motors, but designed around their design.

Has anyone tried to adapt, fit a normal fan motor into these coolers?

abe, go searle, just had a price drop, reliable as they come,no icing up spots or cheap fans, you need a bit closer match but allways go slightly on the large side for a freezer [just my preferance] and order the heavey duty pan heater kit to be sure.

good luck.

For a room at -18C you can run compressor at -25C (7.45kW) it is better to use bigger evaporator for freezer room

and that one LUC 835C which is rated at 8.3Kw at -25c seems ok, just ask for discount ;)

Best regards,

Josip :)
