I have to write an article about the VRVII from Daikin and make some comparisons between other brands. Total heat recovery.
What are the benefits of these new machines compared to the old ones.
I'm not familiar with Daikin, mainly due to their sale politics in Belgium.

What is the purpose of these boxes?

Hi Peter

I've sent you a VRV brochure via e-mail, 5.2mb so it's too big to post here.

The Branch Selector Box (BS Box) is used on a 3 pipe heat recovery system. It contains solenoid valves that allow a connected fan coil to switch between heating or cooling. The inlet side to the box has Discharge gas, Liquid and Suction connections from the outdoor unit and the fan coil side has Liquid and Suction connections.

By switching the sol valves it can either send discharge gas to the fan coil and then feed liquid into the pipework system or take liquid and feed suction gas into the system.

On a 2 pipe system the BS box is not required as the whole system is either on heating or cooling - not both at the same time.

What is the purpose of these boxes?:) My first answer came out as "They are there to make our life even more complicated" :D But I will leave it to Frank to cover this one. IT is good kit though.
