I worked for several years on systems that used ice-water slurries. We could pump slurries of up to 30% ice with centrifugal pumps. The pumps had open type impellers.
The National Research Council in Ottawa, Canada did some research into this back in the early ninties. The project was headed by a man named Gupta.

Hi
I work for a company in this field. We use open centrifugal pumps up to 20% but over that we use gear pumps in stainless steel. We use Lowara pumps in stainless steel up to 20%.
