Hi all,

I have an Iarp fridge in which I try and keep maggots (fishing tackle shop). Trouble is, the ammonia the maggots give off rot out the pipe work. I have tried alloy and copper pipes and they all last about 6 months, its becoming a bit exspensive. Is there any stainless pipework for fridges on the market, if so will it withstand the power of my wriggly friends.

You might have guessed i know nothing about refridgeration, just a desperate man in need of the experts advice.:D

just got back from bude, very nice too, buy a new evaporator that has a protective dip on it or get it done, otherwise its a custom stainless made item, get your local chapey to fit it,job done.

Hey my man, thanks for the reply. I thought the custom made stainless would be the job, we have tried the dip to no avail. Where or who could make the stainless pipe work? Cant find anyone local.

STuart, just a thought but do you have any stainless steel fabricators near you that do work for the boating or brewing trade?

If given the correct info, sizes etc a good fabricator should be able to knock one up for you.

Remember to get a fixed price quotation first though.

try these guys'

http://www.beehivecoils.co.uk/

they make -or used to- all of Fosters coils which now are fully coated.

or even

http://www.searle.co.uk/client/docs/en/index.htm

who know a thing or two about coils.

failing that
http://www.blygold.com/frames.html

who do specialist coatings etc

cheers

Brian, how do we get over the fins on the pipe work as a fabricator would not be able to incorperate these surely? Would it be correct to say that a piece of copper plate behind the pipes would do the same job as the fins?

thats the problem,me thinks you gotta shell out on a new purpose bult jobby as richard suggests, should not cost the earth and will last as long as the fridge, you will allways be able to sell it too ! cheers, up the scrumpy.
