Hi There

Can anyone give me a good reason why it would be a bad idea to use a recovery machine to charge a system with refrigerant, apart from the possibility of oil contamination?

Thanks

I can't. Since the price of refrigerant has gone through the roof that's the way I do it now to get the dregs in.

I have done it on some car aircon when I could not locate the suction port only a delivery port

.

The machine does not know which way it is pushing so if the
machine can do either direction I see no reason why not.

I always advise people to push it in with a recovery machine
especially if you have a lot to do and it is cold, the days of
trying to warm a cylinder to get enough pressure to charge the system are long gone.

Suggest that you use a liquid line filter to make sure no impurities get into the system. Otherwise as has been mentioned, it is the best way to recharge a system, especially if you have a lot of gas to put back in.

Good point and I'd offer you some Luuuuvvve if I didn't have to spread it around :D
