Hi I have a client and he is asking is there any outdoor units which have the fan on the right and the compressor on the left I know fujtsui used to do them many years ago

If you look at the back of the unit then that layout is evident. ;)

Seriously though, is there a particular reason for this layout?

first split ac unit was made in the US and it looks as like the left hand steering wheel they put the compressor on the left side.
If it was invented by the Brits, I guess the compressor was on the right side.

Just made it up as it make sense to me.:D

Hi it's for a restaurant and the only air flow can be on the right

Can you not put on a ducted deflector to push the airflow to the right?

I'm assuming that the discharge air can only blow in one direction.

Can you explain a little as to why it is needed otherwise why not just face the unit the other way ?

Yep, they where AOY14xxx units!

I don't see how is relevant placement of fan at front side of unit near left or near right outdoor unit housing side if you follow mounting distances from manufacturer of unit. If you don't, than it is still irrelevant since it is wrong anyhow!

Here I was asked to mount units between two concrete partitions. I did it as it is asked but refused to sign waranty!
