Hi, my question/questions; I have 2 co2 trans critical system that has returned a higher than specified water content in an oil analysis and I have been told not to bother to change the liquid line driers and instead put liquid line drier cores in the suction which I did and waited 2 weeks and retested, one system water/acid increased and the other decreased? Im thinking possibly one was contaminated in the sampling process? But seeing the level is still high I changed the drier cores once more and on removing the drier cores what struck me was the cores are now orange! So can anyone confirm that it is indeed a wast of time changing the LLD and possibly tell how the drier cores turned orange?

Cheers

.

Not sure why they are orange but drier cores are driers
and if there is contamination inside then they need to be
replaced in both sides of the system.

Acid burn outs in the suction and high capacity in the liquid.

Change more regularly untill clear.

Rob, if possible change oil as well at same time as driers?

Yep, agreed :-)

Good point.

Depending on pack type, some have oil filter / strainer inside the oil separator.
