Hey guys,
This is partially related to my other thread, but since it's a totally different subject I felt it appropriate to start a new discussion to avoid confusion.

What size system would you say this valve belongs on based on Sporlan / Parker's number?

I have a reason for asking, but I want to see what other's come up with on their own.

TEV HCAE 6 KX200 R410.

Looks like 6 TR to me.

The ident is non-standard, it is probably a manufacturers ,Goodman, special code.

Here's the box the replacement from Goodman came in. They sent this based on my serial number.

Mine is a 3 ton system.

Hmmm.

If you look at the Sporlan website you will see that a 3 ton system will most likely use a different rated valve after you apply the correction factors during the selection process.
A lot of information here

Thank you for commenting.

I downloaded their sizing tool and it's actually interesting.
Most of the time, they recommend a size 2 TXV for my 3 ton evaporator, especially running in low stage at 2 tons. The size 3 is needed at lower ambient temperatures. A 6, is only needed if running at 3.5 tons and at a fairly low ambient temp but it seems to be grossly oversized for my needs.

It's interesting to see what effects ambient temp have on it, due to the huge drop in pressure on the condenser side.
