Hello all,

I am new to the forum but not a refrigeration tech or engineer. I need assistance developing a liquid chiller for a medical application. I am using an off the shelf system that needs to be modified for the application. Refrigeration lines need to be modified and a custom evaporator needs to be built. The compressor is variable speed but the latency associated with the speed change vs. temperature is long and inconsistent. It does not appear that 2x motor speed provides 2x cooling. I am thinking a combination of an adjustable expansion valve and varying the speed of the compressor could satisfy the requirements but have no idea how to design the system.

I am in San Jose, California and looking for engineering support out here. Any recommendations?

You need professional local advice for this, I would not try it yourself.

That said I think you need to look at using an Inverter to control the speed
Of the compressor and an electronic expansion valve to regulate the flow.

Rob,

Thank you for the response. I am full agreement with you regarding the professional assistance. I am not sure where to look to hire an engineer. Can you make any recommendations?

Thanks,

Don

There are many ways to skin a cat.
some easier than you think.
What is your cooling load. Min and max?
Temperatures Required?
