Is all POE oil the same?

I am thinking about retrofitting an old heat pump for use in my garage/shop. If I go to 407c, I know I have to drain the system of mineral oil and install POE. Is any type of POE acceptable? I have even seen POE with a leak check dye in it at automotive stores for old car retrofits to 134c. Is this acceptable?

For above 0 temp, 68 viscosity should be ok.
You might have to replace oil more than once to get rid of mineral oil.

The oil is designed for a range of temperatures so
if you need a low temperature system you would
choose an oil rated to the lower temp.

You don't! You need a oil for highish temperatures
so (within reason) any of those POE oils will do.

The ones with the dye in are another kettle of fish,
some people think the dye is the spawn of Satan and
you'r system will die in a thousand horrible ways if you
use it, some people like it. A bit like Marmite really, you
either love it or hate it.

Emkarate RL32-MAF is whats used in Copeland scrolls, I've used it in Tecumseh and Bristol compressors too without issue.

I don't!! The oil that is used with auto AC tends to be PAG oil and therefore different to POE.

PAG is designed for open drive compressors due to it's electrical conductivity.

So choose wisely.

Hi stryped
If you do the retrofit and you change oils you can get a test kit to see if the concentration of mineral oil is below the recommended amount. The kit is from Virginia RTK Retrofit Test Kit and it will tell you if teh concentration is over 5%, between 1% and 5% and below 1%.
As Chemi said you may have to change the oil more than once.
