Now thats what i call an Oil Filter in need of a change!

Took the filter below out of a HS 3200 screw which was at 14 months run time.
So was 2 months overdue!
I am assured the comp ran OK.
I have advised the oil be sampled for analysis.
The customer totally agrees.

And a Oil Change may well be following.
The end plate which hold the Tension spring came off as I removed the spring!

Just some other points to add

4)air in system
4a) low liquid receiver level allowing air to recirculate, oxidization

Best way to monitor oil filter is with pressure drop across it using gauges, new might be 30kpa & change at 120kpa for example.
Set oil trip point conservatively so you can catch it sooner than later.
Sometimes people reset an oil trip fault & oil filter can blow out (if using oil pump) then no oil filtration at all.

Hello Grizzly, you can rest easy, the standard that even reputable companies supplying oil filters that are after operating for a while crumbling. The problem consists in bonding a cover, the cover firmly pressed or welded does not have a problem.
This case is not bonded with the moisture-water-air-high temperature ....
In such cases I encounter every moment in the package of one manufacturer and also had a suspicion of moisture-not so.

NH3 system?

I've seen that happen to some filters, as the ammonia/oil/temp mixture dissolves the glue.

I will see what the filter is like when we next change it.
The one done Jan. 2016 had no issues.
However as I said in the meantime I await the Oil analysis report.
I will keep you all posted.
There is a oil pressure diff (across the Filter) monitoring system.
Sadly as it was shutdown prior to my attending site.
I did not get to see what the diff was.
I will make a point of asking for this the next time I am booked to do a filter change!

Nah.. it looks like the filter is a fiberglass with mesh filter from parker, they don't work well with ***** and 60C oil, the glue becomes really hard and the steel donut caps on either end becomes undone and falls off, as well as the seem along the length of the filter may fall apart...

You should have had the "paper" cartridge instead, the filter cartridge that is orange weithout the mesh

for NH3 it's completely opposite, I don't understand it why :)
