Provided that you have thoroughly flushed the system to remove any debris, you could use the mono block to provide heating input only.
Probably best to install an inline filter such as the Fernox TF1 to provide extra filtration for the water circuit.
If the unit is going to be turned off in the cold weather then it would be best to use a special heat pump antifreeze solution such as Fernox HP-5C to a suitable protection level..
You would be able to achieve a maximum flow temperature of 55 degrees, if needed.
Obviously the system would be much more efficient at the lower flow temperatures.
There is no need to have a hot water tank as you can set the system up in a heating only mode.
You can then control the unit by a remote thermostat across terminals 1 & 4 and preset the flow temperature or have it weather compensated.

If not already fitted, install automatic air bleeders at highest point of water circuit. Will stop all banging and clanging in the pipework.

If your existing system is 'Vented' type (expansion tank in the loft) and you change to 'Unvented', (pressurised) you may end up with a few leaks
