Hi group,
I'm noticing our MD-200-50 (2006 model I believe) is spraying out an increasingly black oil trail down the top of our box truck, and wondering if there are any maintenance strategies to reduce this or if an engine rebuild is coming down the line. There's about 10,000 hours on the unit. It's not yet at an amount that seems too alarming, but it's definitely getting worse. Engine oil level seems to be holding pretty well.
Thanks.

Doesn't take much oil to make a large mess.

If the oil is coming out the exhaust, the damage is done. A compression test or cylinder leakdown test may give you some insight.

it will be the oil drain hose, grab hold of it, if you can twist it around, that'll be it.

Its a case of bottom panel off, oil drain, chop out a piece of frame to get a spanner in , one out one in.

Thanks for these replies. Forgot to say yes, it's coming out the exhaust. There is a fairly good cloud of black smoke at startup. Guess I should have it compression tested.

Sounds more like a soot trail to me, are you 100% that it is oil?
