Oil squirting out of copper pipe near compressor

Bought a brand new Edgestar kegerator/mini fridge and wouldn't cool. After a few days of messing with the thermostat I decided to pull the fridge from the wall. I noticed a small puddle of oil on the floor. I unplugged it and plugged it back in after about 5 min and when it tried to kick on, I saw the oil spray out of a small copper pipe. I googled the crap out of it and I think it's the small line that comes out of the UV dye dryer? I'll try to attach a pic (it posted rotated for some reason). If anyone can tell me if it's an easy fix or about how much it'll cost to get fixed, it'll be appreciated...cause I don't want to pay the $100 in shipping to send the whole fridge back through the mail. Thanks!

That device is a filter dryer and is used to ensure the refrigerant
on the inside of the system is as clean as dry as possible.

The thin tube coming from it is a capillary tube and it is key to
the refrigerant delivery to the cooling evaporator.

The oil that you found should normally be inside the compressor
and it moves around the system as the refrigerant moves around.

If the oil has leaked out, it is a certainty that the refrigerant has leaked out.

Do not run it again, it needs repairing or replacing. It is a simple fix but it is
a very important fix. If it is still under warenty then get them to deal with it.

Ok. Thank you very much with the reply. I did leave it on a few days without checking on it thinking it was getting cold before discovering the leak and it not getting cold...I hope I didn't hurt the compressor. The warranty requires me to take it to them to get fixed, mail it to them and I pay the postage, or take it somewhere to get fixed and I have to pay the labor...so I'm coming out of pocket somehow. But thanks again for the reply!!

The pipe at the point where it failed is very
delecate and if it has been banged in transit
or pulled while moving it is very easy to break.

it would take less than an hour for a decent
fridge engineer to repair it but like you say that
comes at a cost.

See if they will meet the cost of the repair or get
in touch with Judge Judy, she'll sort em out
