Hi,

I am sizing a condensor unit based on capacity. Can someone confirm my capacity calculation.

1. I start with an evaporator capacity of 160kW. With the refrigerant enthalpies and capacity of 160kW I calculate the massflow. Massflow=Capacity_evap / (Enthalpy_out - Enthalpy_in) Units of enthalpy are in kJ/kg

2. With the massflow calculated in step 1 and the working conditions of the condensor I determine the enthalpies in the condensor. The condensor capacity is then Capacity_cond = Massflow x (Enthalpy_cond_in - Enthalpy_cond_out)

Is this the right method of determining the required condensor capacity?

Please let me know many thanks in advance

evaporator capacity at designed temp + compressor watt draw + 15% for a warm day.
Thats the way I do it.

I agree with Chemi cool .I consider Evaporator capacity + compressor Power consumption + 10% for losses

I have never been a fan of "Rule of Thumb" calculations, especially if evap loading is 160kws.
generally use a long and protracted method, especially if located in the Nederlands. Ambient conditions are so varied, summer to winter
