Hello
I am designing a ammonia two stage plant for a fish processing complex. including Freezing tunnels, cold storage, Ice maker and etc.
I have calculate a capacity of 400 KW.hr for booster compressor (Te = -40 C and Tc = -10 C)
I tried to select a model from a company. I could not find the cooling capacity of the compressor working in -10 condensing temperature. Although I know that companies like GEA provide customers with cooling capacity on this condition for booster compressors.
I wonder if there is anybody helping me how to choose it?

Let me explain.
We are all here to help each other.
We all work for different companies, So as to not show any favouritism.
Promoting any particular company is not advised on the forum.
Otherwise we all start ruining a brilliant forum with my kit is better than yours ect. ect.



If someone wishes to help you then I suggest They PM (Private message) you and talk off forum.
So asking for preference of machines, Equipment and companies ect is not encouraged.

You can calaculate all by compressor swept volume m3/h ... with specific volume of NH3 at -40*C ... you can calculate how much mass you need to move ... with piston or screw or turbo compressor ...

you can notice all capacities are in m3/h ... depending on discharge pressure you need to choose the power of electric motor to run it ....

you can download also product selection software from some companies ... but you need to contact them directly ...;)

your question is simple, but to give you a good answer is not that simple ... I do not know where I can start with explanation ...

With all my respect, if you want to design industrial refrigeration plant you cannot be confused how to calculate compressor capacity using compressor swept volume ....

Anyhow, I believe the best is to start here ... this is explanation of compressor capacity of one of valauble ex RE members, unfortunately he is not active on RE forums for a long time ... but you can find a lot of his nice posts ... one is here ...

Not quite understanding situation.
If you need a compressor selected, why would you not go to agent or rep from that company & get them to select it.
As soon as it's selected of course you want to know price & availability.
If they do not want to help, go to another supplier who will.
If they want to supply you with compressor package make them work for it & is some sort of guarantee that it is selected properly.
They should also help you with download of selection software, which I did but hopefully it will be approved (on link I posted).
It can be used for checking different scenarios for plant start up with pulldown etc.
Electric motor must be selected for those issues, also oil separator.
I think this would be a professional approach if you are in this industry.

compressor size for 400kw is W compressor, or to be exact 408kw
