What does 17th edition entitle me to do?

Hi.
I have just booked my 17th edition course/exam for next month.
I know it may sound a stupid question but what does it entitle me to do??
Just doing it to get another string to my bow.
I have looked on sparky forums but not that much info out there.

it means you can flick through a book to find regulations within a set time- it doesnt give any hands on electrical training- top tip buy a book before u go on the course, they let u stick post it notes on important bits- ie typical answers you might get in the exam

The Electrical regulations only prove you can read a book.
It will prove that if you have to, that you can find the correct
standard to work to, when working with electrical equipment.

It will not make you an electrician, it will make a good electrician
better but it is not an electrical qualification.

The industry, employers and authorities ask it as proof of understanding
electrical regulations, so they can say you should know how to do that.
If you then do that wrong it is the regulations they hold against you and
use that to send you to prison.

But employers like it because they can use it instead of a full electrical
qualification that takes years to gain and thousands of pounds in costs.

All you need to know when working with electrics is two things.

One, which end of the cable you can lick
Two, the last person to touch the circuit is liable for any faults.

thats what I thought. It will look good on the Cv tho I guess.
Arr I ain't licked a nice bit of cable for a while, it will be useful to finally know Which
end is the tastiest����⚡️⚡️
