Chaps,

looking at a Haier ducted split which has been playing up for some time. The previous company diagnosed a faulty compressor but on running it seems fine although the unit stops after a minute of operation on either heating or cooling

There is a hard wired controller but no faults show. The indoor board has flashing lights but seem more random.

One thing I did notice that the outdoor ambient sensor had been chopped and the wired taped together, the actual sensor was missing

I assume the first thing would be to replace the sensor but wonder if anyone has any ideas?

Richard

when it stops is it comp only or cond fan? - might be worth sticking a resitance box or a fixed resistor to trick it to think the ambient is 28deg- which it prob is in your hood, would have thought that the system wouldnt run at all if senssor is linked out

Found this install manual if of any use, has some fault code info:

http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=3&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwi3nLP2-ZPMAhXMWBoKHYZWDQQQFgg2MAI&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.haiercondizionatori.it%2Fdownload.aspx%3Ffile%3D7923_AD12-18MS1ERA-UM.pdf%26al_id%3D7923&usg=AFQjCNFohbqNs6MrK82Spjvia7ifMPcnBw

and another one here which I'm not sure applies to your model but has all sorts of service info inc. probe resistances:
http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwizrKDs-5PMAhWEJhoKHY_rB0cQFggjMAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fimage.haier.com%2Fmanual%2FAirconditioner%2F201108%2FP020110831595246434785.pdf&usg=AFQjCNEcUUr77Lsn5PDYuZwsYp9tyPIsIA

Other than that not really messed about with Haier.

Heard someone describe them as worse than LG if you could confirm? :-)

Cheers,
Andy.

Don't suppose it's clever enough to consider frost protection on the evap?

Don't suppose it's clever enough to consider frost protection on the evap?

It was 25 deg C so unlikely but it was to the second which means the pcb was timing an error but not reporting it.....:-)
