Dear all

Our company wants to build propane refrigeration system for cooling gas at one of the facilities.
Please, see and comment on this design model Propane Cooling System:
Model of refrigeration system in Aspen Hysys (https://scontent-cdg2-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xlp1/t31.0-8/12672176_147290532319310_1173168911179135092_o.jpg)

Perhaps you have any comments or ideas.

I am particularly concerned about the economizer, we want to first install a subcooling economizer.

Regards
Alex

In design scheme, which uploaded in above post, we want to use one screw compressor.
What pressure range is optimally provided for refrigirant R290?
I chose the following:
Gas suction line pressure - 1.2-2.0 bar a
Gas suction from economizer at screw compressor side point -3.0-3,4 bar a.
Gas discharge line pressure - 15.5-17.5 bar a.
Gas discharge line max pressure - 18.5 bar a.
Also
I want to ask the advantages and disadvantages of flash economizer and heat exchanger economizer in so scheme.
What ratio gas through shell of economizer/ gas through shell of economizer gives the maximum effect?

I am sorry did not notice your post earlier ... do you solve your problem ... maybe I can give you some suggestion from my experience working on similar plants ...

Best regards, Josip :)

Thank You for answer. I wanted to show the design scheme of work the propane refrigeration unit and to hear the comments of experts.
This is the first such high-power propane cooling system.
The total estimated duty in chillers - near 2,8 MW. Propane compression design capacity : 550,000 Nm3/Day. Power consumption of 1 screw compressor - 2.6 MW. It is planned to use two compressors for provide design capacity : 550,000 Nm3/Day.

I am not sure, but I noticed some changes from your first design drawing
http://Model of refrigeration system in Aspen Hysys

to the last one
http://savepic.net/8081720.jpg

much less equipment installed or only less shown:confused:

.... many times from PFD it is not visible all what we need to see ... this looks like liquefaction gas plant ...

To be able to help you we need some more info regarding your refrigeration plant ... what are you cooling it is less important, but it will be good to know that too... probably some process gas

So, here are some questions to be answered to be able to give any suggestion or advice how to design your plant ...

From your drawings it is possible to read part of process, but not all ... you are speaking about economizer, but without any connection to compressor eco port or maybe I cannot see it ...

what is TEE it looks like header to split two line or to collect two lines ...
where from is coming and what is line 7 entering into MIX 101-2 (this must be suction separator) ...
line 27-2 is not connected too ...

we need to know how many HE you need to have within process with requested cooling capacity and working temperatures ... there are 3 (I-2-2 and B-5-2, ECONOMIZER-2) of them and one you want to use like economizer (T-6) ... but that pipe is coming into suction of compressor K-101-2 ...what is duty and connection of compressor K-100-2

What is PIPE 100-2 also type of HE ...

you plan to use AIR COND 100-2 with receiver ...

the best is to upload schematic drawing without pipe sizes and description if not needed ..

It is your idea and for you all is clear and for us can be a kind of puzzle ... so kindly request you to explain your idea to us ...

Hope this will be of some help to you ... and of course to us ...

Best regards, Josip :)

Why are you using screw compressor?? I think centrifugal would be better in such a higher TR capacity. Also how much oil entrainment is allowed?, this factor plays important role in propane refrigeration.
Dont use flash economiser , instead of that use , shrll and tube heat exchanger BEM type. Please contact in case of any further query.
