I made the below smoker for my eldest Son.
Who is into his smoking various foods, it's made from various scrounged parts from sites that a fridge / HVAC guy may come across.
Just for fun does anyone recognise any of the bits?

Hi Joe.
Thanks, that picture is just after my son had sprayed it with High temp resistant paint.
Obviously the Handles are 2nd hand Kitchen cupboard handles and the temp gauge was bought off ebay.
I can guarantee you have seen the chimney before but not quite as shown!

What is the use of that instrument?

Nothing to do with refrigeration GE, as I said just for fun.
Because some of the parts used are used on, in or for Fridge systems.
Its a meat smoker made from recycled materials. Smoking or slow cooking is becoming really popular over here and has been so in other countries for a long time.

Hi Grizzly,

outlook is very nice ... I do not recognize parts, sorry ... but for sure I can judge if it is running good, of course only after trying a sample ;)....

Best regards, Josip

OK Guys before and after!
13890

It's a expansion tank from a glycol under floor heating system (Coldstore Plantroom.) Where the bladder had failed and was re-ordered.
Only the whole unit arrived! So the above was spare.

13891

Ash collection point and variable air vent.
Both this and the chimney are formed from Yellow Map Gas Cylinders. Close with filter cans though!

13892

Because the Ash collection and air regulation on the bottom were added I initially raised the whole smoker on Bricks.

13893

Then I scrounged from the onsite fitters 3 of the roller wheels (worn) that are fitted on the front of those ride on pallet trucks! To raise the working level to accommodate the above mods.

The slow cooked pork was not perfect because controlling the temps was a huge learning curve.
But we have had spectacular Hams and even Duck since.

I will settle with home made, smoked pork sausages.

I,m dead serious, I make them at home, got a Cob smoker for many years, smoking fish, Turkeys, chickens.

get some hickory wood flakes to add taste.

besides that, I should be in your area in February if all my plans will work out so get some meat ready.

Hi Chemi.
If you are a Cob specialist then I am not worthy!
We have just started and the wood flakes do indeed make a difference!
Let me know nearer the time when you are around.
It would be good to buy you a pint or 2!

Hi Viking.
You Norsemen have never been the shy and retiring type!
Well known for turning up without an invite.
If the weather we are getting at the present is any thing to go by, Pimms would be off the menu!
Mind Pimms do a flavoured Cider which is not bad!
Our Entertainment / cooking area is still under construction at present As you can tell from some of the photos.
I wonder if Dez would stump up for some Bread rolls?

Hi Grizzly.
a brilliant job of re cycling. Initial thought was 101 uses of a disposable refrigerant cylinder.
Fish smokers are popular here.
