Great question from customer. A cracker!

The two rooms are different in some way. Either one has a window open, the other not (or one leaks more than the other). Or one is nearer to outside door (greater infiltration). Or one room is wetter than the other, maybe a hard worker on one and a slacker in the other. Ladies give off a bit less latent heat than men.

This kind of question is best handled with bullsth rather than brains. Often very hard for a cleaver chap to do that but it will work the best. If you get too scientific he will tie you all up in knots. Best is to go with the gaps and leaks -- tell him to seal up all the cracks and gaps in both rooms, especially above the suspended ceilings, and then the units will likely drip the same. (Should keep him busy.)

i wonder if one has a shower room or toilet next door or en suite.

What did you use for the drains? Electrical conduit or A/C drain?

It's probably not relevant to this particular case, but at my last employer we switched to proper A/C drain when we discovered that electrical conduit is a slightly different material that actually promotes bacterial growth (iirc - maybe the A/C drain inhibits it).
We found a vast difference in drain maintenance between the two. Happy days! :)

Back on topic - as the others say, the rooms have different latent heat loads, or one is running colder than the other, or something.

Do you have traps in the drains?

If not try trapping them to stop any back airflow into the units.

is 1 unit on constantly and the other started up on timer?- thus making more condensation? both systems running at same fan speed? any leaking joints on the drain?

Hi eurocooling
They probably drip the same amount but when he looks at them one room may be cooling and the other has cycled off. Put a bucket under each drain and monitor for a couple of days this will prove if one drips more than the other.
If one bucket fills up more than the other follow Good Man's advice.
