Morning all,

Simple question -

Can I use my recovery machine to re-charge a chiller on R407c?

My machine is a Pro max RG4510a

Always wondered if recovery machines could be used 'backwards'

Thanks a lot, any replies would be appreciated.

Of course you can, but why?

1. R-407c should be charged as liquid.
2. It will take a long time.

I need to re-charge 72kg back into an Aermec chiller from a large R407c bottle. I understand that I need to recharge R407c in liquid form, but this morning it's taking an age to exit my cylinder. My thinking was if I hook up my recovery unit 'backwards' it will recharge quicker.

Am I wrong?

There is a heating blanket for refrigerant cylinder but you can use flexible heater to warm up the cylinder to save time.

Many thanks, flexible heater? Can't say I've heard of one of them.

Cheers for the response.

you can reverse your reclaim rig to pull out the bottle and into the system, but keep an eye on it- ensure any solonoids are energised (should be energised already when pressure testing and vaccing)
throttle ur inlet valve on the reclaim rig if ur pulling liq out the bottle,
prob just as quick bomb charging liq into system then run it and charge via suction side only

A bucket of warm water tipped over the cylinder will raise the pressure and speed up charging if you don't have a blanket heater such as the one Chemi showed above. Be careful not to let the cylinder pressure get too high.
