Sorry for such a hard question and don't expect an answer right away! But Working on a under counter ice machine with a cap tube and I want to replace cap tube with either a AXV or TXV and can't Deceide which would be the best option. The machine use 134a and would be nice to have the evap around a constant 11 or so degrees Fahrenheit. Im using a 24hr/7 day intermatic timer instead of the cold control stat to send unit into defrost mode for 5 min and 55 ice making which works great when cap tube is getting restricted. Any other thoughts on this idea would be helpful. ,Maybe an EPR valve ?

Why do you want to replace the cap tube?

.

Redesigning the wheel?

It is not as simple as just changing the cap tube
AXV and TXV (we call them TEV) need liquid receivers
to operate correctly. Space and refrigerant charge weight
will be an issue.

Some one added a piece of cap tube due to a restriction and its the wrong size.
