Hi all,
We sometimes get callouts to find a compressor over current fault on inverter heat pump splits. It would be nice to be able to prove the compressor is actually faulty before suggesting we replace it.
We always do the usual tests, insulation resistance, check windings between each other, has it been tripping the breaker etc.
We have had situations where clients have requested we replace the inverter module (to save $) before progressing to replacing the compressor. (Obviously we have pre-warned them of the risk they take)
A few times this has been successful, inverter board replaced, compressor running normal current draw, no more error codes, no call backs.
Is there a device which we could use to supply a digitally commutated power supply to prove the compressor is actually faulty?
Please note I am not referring to an inverter board checker with LED`s.
I am referring to a device to drive the compressor independent of the units control system.
