Hello all,

New to the site.

I have a couple of separate systems running on R404a on a spiral freezer. Both systems are LPR type ( Star Refrig design). With the new regulations coming in to force I'm looking for a suitable refrigerant to replace the R404a without having to make any major mods to the systems. Unfortunately the new 407's will fractionate in the LPR vessel and at the moment the new hfo's I've read about seem to be more for the a/c and chiller market. I've also tried to look into the possibility of R410a but there's not much info about this gas on low temperature operation. The compressors are grasso and sabroe screws with economisers, evap temp -43 deg. Anyone got any suggestions?

what temp are freezing to ? I'm in the same boat as you but for chilling flowers to maintain 5d/c and have been recommended R442d just weighing up whether to retrofit or to change chiller's as there averaging 12yr old

As Chemi says...R507 has a very similar PT relationship

R507 and R404A are almost the same
