View Full Version : 12000 BTU split ac indoor unit fan wiring problem

Hi
yesterday i get split ac problem
the PCB was weird operting turn off then on
immediately i replaced it with universal PCB
every thing worked properly except the indoor unit fan
the voltage is 220
50 hz
the ac is classic
the motor of fan has 6 wires
blue
red
yellow
grey
brown
yellow
i wired the red and blue to capacitor
i wired grey and yellow and brown as speed hi low mid
and the other yellow i wired it to neutral
the motor never rotate
plez help

Hi Kefah,

Glad you are still keeping going through all what's going on where you live.

I think the motor has a speed output for the original PCB which is the part on the left of your diagram.

Original wiring looks like it should be:

Yellow: 5 or perhaps 12V DC from PCB.
Grey: square wave output back to PCB. Frequency of square wave dependant on motor speed.
Brown: Neutral for speed sensor.

Speed sensor circuit probably a hall effect module.

Yellow: variable voltage controlled by triac circuit to control motor speed.
Red: wire from start winding on motor.
Blue: Neutral.

Yellow and blue could be either way round for a PSC motor.

Never fitted a universal PCB but I think you would have to ignore the yellow, grey and brown from sensor.
Capacitor as you have already wired, blue neutral and yellow is voltage to run motor.
You wont be able to control motor speed, it will run at max rpm. Perhaps you will have to select one output speed from your new PCB or you might be able to connect high, med and low outputs from the new PCB together and connect these to yellow on motor if they are relay outputs from the PCB?

Basically the AC waveform is sent to the motor but parts of it can be chopped up to control the speed. If more of the AC wave is chopped off then the slower the motor runs.

you might be able to connect high, med and low outputs from the new PCB together and connect these to yellow on motor if they are relay outputs from the PCB?
they are exactly as u mentioned
