Hi Guys

I'm currently serving in the RAF as an Aircraft Engineering Technician. I'm intending to move to Oz with my family in the next two years. I want to emigrate with more than one string to my bow jobwise. Before I leave the RAF I plan to use my resettlement training entitlement to retrain in Air Con/Refridgeration. I also have qualifications in CAD that I hope to be able to utilise.

Can any of you tell me what I need to do to not only re-train to get into this field, but also any other qualifications I may need to achieve to allow me to work in this job in Oz?

Also which area is best to work in, automotive, industrial or residential? What are my chances of securing a job with purely qualifications, and will my previous engineering experience (even though it's aircraft based) help me?

I apologize if I am rehashing old questions but I don't have a great understanding of this subject so I'd appreciate it if any of your replies start from the bare basics.

Cheers

Mikey

Hi mikey1793, Give Skills Recognition a call in Australia. They are based in Melbourne. Google and all should be revieled. If you are From a UK based training program you shoul have no probs what so ever.

Good luck.

PS. There is plenty of work available through out Australia. Adelaide is one of the better places to work.

Hi Mikey1973,

I'm in the same boat, just started my resettlement (2 years to go :D ) and i am looking at A/C. I've got a place in Spain but also fancy Oz, either way A/C looks like a good buisness and career move.

My wife and I recently attended the Oz Expo in London and the courses I listed as part of my resettlement matched exactly what they were after.... Look on the Migration on Demands List and TRA.

Look forward to hearing how you get on ;)

Been to Rye , Mornington , Bells Beach ,

When i was 17 , 18 good places those are , i love the wet weather.

Good place to see , if you are a Queenslander.

I hate the VB , but while watching the A.F.L , it was ok.

Hey my workmate just emigrated from the uk, she showed his experience for refrig, and doesnt have o do any exams for that, he just has to do his restricted electrical, and i think its based on earning aus regulations etc.

Move to Brissie, i have been to every capital city in Aus and bris is the best.

(Perth is too isolated)
(Hobart too cold)
(Aelaides water tastes like crap)
(Melbourne too cold too many afl people)
(Sydney too crouded)
(Canberra too many politians)
(Darwin, is it even a town? too many crocs)
Brisbane.... Awsome weather, close to the beach, plenty of ac work!!

Frank,

Since the she/his was used in the same sentence perhaps you don't really want to see this!:D

It might be more than you can take.
