Hi.

I just changed out the o-rings and end washer on my piston valve cps blackmax manifold set. The instructions said to oil the o-rings after installation, but had no suggestion as to what oil to use. I mostly do r134a, so my first though is to throw some POE on there, but, that's just going to get contaminated with moisture, then migrate...

Anyone have a suggestion for an oil that is resistant to migration?

BTW, I know people like to bag on CPS, but it's been a good set to me, and the repair kit was under 10$ shipped. Can't beat that!

Thanks!

.

The amount of oil will be negligible in the big scheme of things.
Your only going to put a small drop on your finger tip and then move
the o ring between them.

I would not worry about the type of oil used because it will be such
a small amount, that it won't mater.

I've just repaired about 4 of our gauge manifold sets and I used a smear
of vac pump oil oil that I had in the store cupboard.

I also use the CPS sets (among others) and I like them also, they do what
they are supposed to do and are reasonably priced.

I think yellow jacket makes some grease just for doing the o rings, but like Grizzly said, i'd probably use what was to hand.
